Prepare yourself for an insane burger. The burger patties are topped with an egg with cheese, ham, and sautéed onions and peppers.
See our No-Fuss Hamburger Recipe. We adore a delicious burger and tend to keep things very straightforward. Nevertheless, it is enjoyable to act irrationally occasionally. Adding omelets, ham, and a large amount of sautéed onions and peppers to burgers surely falls into this category.
While the burgers are cooking, we prepare an omelet. Since the dish is already somewhat nutty, I prefer to use two kinds of cheese. Swiss is my preferred cheese for omelets, while cheddar is my go-to for burgers. So, we add Swiss cheese to the omelet and cheddar slices to the burgers at the very end of cooking. You may use any type of cheese you desire; Joanne thought pepper Jack cheese would provide a lovely touch of heat to the dish.
When the burgers and omelet are ready, we will assemble them. Start with warm, toasted buns that have been spread with mayonnaise, then add other ingredients. The burger was topped with cheddar, sautéed vegetables, ham, a Swiss cheese omelet, and then the top bun.
Outrageous Burger Recipe with Egg, Ham, and Peppers
This burger is excessive but incredibly good. Select ground chuck or round with a 20% fat content when preparing burger patties. This produces juicy burgers.

- 6 slices Swiss cheese
DIRECTIONS
MAKE BURGERS
Form four 6-ounce hamburger patties from beef. Use your thumb to create a depression in the center of each burger. (This stops the burger centers from expanding during cooking.) Salt and pepper on both sides of the hamburger patties.
Melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat in a cast iron skillet. Depending on your preference, cook hamburger patties for three to four minutes on each side. Or grill burgers on an outside grill. Add two pieces of cheddar cheese to each patty approximately 30 seconds before they are done cooking. Cover burgers with aluminum foil and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving with an omelet and toppings.
COOK ONIONS AND PEPPERS
Meanwhile, heat olive oil over moderately high heat in a skillet. Add onions and peppers and simmer, turning periodically, for approximately 8 minutes, until tender, sweet, and the edges are beginning to brown. Season lightly with salt and freshly ground pepper.
MAKE OMELET
Over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a nonstick skillet. Whisk two of the eggs with a pinch of salt and a few grinds of black pepper in a basin.
When the butter has melted and begun to bubble, add the eggs to the center of the pan and stir for 5 seconds with a rubber spatula. Using a spatula, loosen the edges of the egg mixture by moving around its perimeter. When the eggs have reached a semi-solid consistency, add three pieces of Swiss cheese. When the cheese has melted, shake the pan to release the omelet and then flip one half over the other. Place on a plate and cover loosely with aluminum foil.
Prepare a second omelet using the remaining two eggs and the same method as the first. Cut each omelet in half to get four smaller omelets.
TO FINISH
Construct hamburgers. Mayonnaise is applied to both halves of each bun. On the bottom half, place the hamburger patty and a quarter of the onions and peppers. Add a quarter of the ham, one-half of the omelet, and the top of the bun to the sandwich.
