A sweet and refreshing mango shake is the ideal beverage to enjoy when mangos are at their prime. Here are two equally simple and delectable recipes (with step-by-step instructions and images, for making rich and creamy mango milkshakes, one made with dairy and the other with coconut milk.
About These Recipes
Both of the mango shake recipes listed here are delicious and creamy. During the warm months in India, I frequently prepare these as breakfasts, snacks, or light desserts. In addition to having a deliciously crisp taste, they are rich in nutrients, making them a better alternative to sugary beverages.
(In addition to this mango milkshake, Apple Milkshakes and Banana Milkshakes are also extremely popular here. Test them out!)
Below you will find simple recipes for preparing a mango milkshake in one of two ways: as a standard dairy milkshake or as a coconut milk-based vegan milkshake. Both variations are vegetarian and include only succulent, ripe mangoes. Similarly, both mango shakes are ideal for a refreshing beverage that is both light and filling.
Mangos are frequently referred to as the “king of fruits” due to their popularity. Try these mango milkshake recipes and you’ll understand why they’re so popular!

Mango Milkshake Recipe
- Rinse and pat dry two ripe and sweet mangoes of medium size. They must be peeled and chopped. Throw away the stones. Mangoes should be added to the blender jar.
- Add 1.5 cups of whole milk to the mixture. Milk can be refrigerated or served at room temperature. You can now add between one and three tablespoons of sugar. The mangoes I used were of the Alphonso kind, so I did not add any sugar.
- Add two to three ice cubes. The addition of ice is optional.
- Combine until smooth. There should not be any mango bits in the shake. This milkshake is thick. For a milkshake with a thinner consistency, you can add additional milk.
- Test the flavor. If the mango milkshake is not sweet enough, add one to three teaspoons of sugar and blend until dissolved.
- Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of honey, palm sugar, coconut sugar, brown sugar, or jaggery in place of sugar.
- Pour the mango milkshake directly into glasses and serve immediately. If desired, garnish the mango shake with chopped almonds, whipped cream, or ice creams, such as vanilla ice cream or mango ice cream.
Vegan Mango Shake
Rinse and then peel two mangoes of medium size. Add them to a mixer or blender jar after chopping them. Add one pinch of saffron threads. The addition of saffron is optional. I enjoy the flavor pairing of saffron and mango.
There is no need to add any seasonings. However, if you like the additional taste, feel free to add vanilla essence, ground cinnamon, or ground cardamom.
Stir in 2 cups of coconut milk (thick or lite). I’ve employed coconut milk. You can add almond, oat, soy, or cashew milk instead.
Add some water or ice cubes if you have used coconut milk that is too thick like I have done in the next step.
Add three to four ice cubes. You may also add sugar or your preferred sweetener if desired.
Combine until smooth If the milkshake is too thick, add extra water and re-blend.
Serve the vegan mango milkshake immediately in large glasses. Nuts such as cashews, pistachios, and almonds may be added as a garnish before serving.
The sort of mangoes you use will determine the consistency and color of your mango milkshake. Mangoes of the Alphonso kind have a vibrant golden-yellow hue. Other mango varieties will produce a shake that is juicier, pulpier, and bright yellow to light yellow in color.
Variations
Simply combine diced ripe and sweet mangoes with dairy or plant-based milk to create these mango milkshake recipes. However, there are numerous methods to personalize your drink with various additives.
In addition to the ingredients stated in the entire recipe below, you can add a variety of other ingredients to alter the consistency and flavor of the shakes.
- Cream – When you add whipping cream to a shake, the consistency becomes exceptionally thick and creamy. While blending, you can add around 1/4 cup of heavy cream to the milk. Before serving, whipped cream can also be added to the milkshake’s topping.
- Whole milk — Whole milk or full-fat milk produces the creamiest shakes. However, if you like, you may add low-fat or skim milk.
- Almond or coconut milk — I prefer to make a vegan mango smoothie with almond or coconut milk. You may also use cashew milk, soy milk, or any other plant-based milk substitute of your choosing.
- Adding vanilla ice cream or mango ice cream to your mango shake while blending will make it thick, creamy, and rich. Add a scoop or two of ice cream. Vanilla ice cream or mango ice cream is the best option for this mango milkshake recipe.
- Ice cubes — To significantly thin the milkshake, add 6 to 7 ice cubes. You can even add fewer ice cubes. While blending, I always add three to four ice cubes to ensure that the milkshake is cold when served.
Expert Tips
Mangoes
Choose mangoes that are ripe with care. Mangoes of any sort may be utilized, but I advise avoiding those that are very fibrous. Instead, search for mangoes that are juicier, sweeter, and simpler to peel. The sweeter the mango, the less sugar will be required, and the healthier the shake will be as a result.
I always choose Alphonso mangoes when preparing milkshakes. You may not have access to alphonso mango where you live; thus, choose any sweet mango species with a sweet and smooth pulp. Additionally, avoid using sour or semi-sweet mangoes, as they can cause stomach discomfort. Additionally, sour mangoes may curdle the milk.
Milk
As previously said, you may use whole milk, low-fat or nonfat milk, or vegan-friendly milk substitutes such as coconut milk or almond milk. Other delicious plant-based milks include cashew milk, soy milk, and even oat milk.
Sweeteners
If you use lovely mangoes, there is no need to add more sugar or sweetener to the smoothie. If the mixture is not sweet enough, feel free to add a touch of cane sugar, palm sugar, jaggery, maple syrup, or honey as you blend.
However, taste the mango milkshake prior to adding sugar, and only increase the sweetness if necessary. It is usually a good idea to limit your sugar intake or utilize healthier alternatives wherever possible.
Proportions
You may easily adjust the mango-to-milk ratio when making the smoothie. Add extra mangoes for a delicious, pulpy, and thick shake bursting with mango flavor. Add extra milk to get a creamier, more milkshake-like flavor.
Flavorings
There is no need to include any additional ingredients in these mango shake recipes. Mango taste predominates, and mango is the main ingredient in these recipes. Add a pinch of ground cardamom powder or cinnamon powder, saffron strands, or a pinch of grated nutmeg or vanilla for a drink with a touch more flair.
These can be added while mixing the shake or as a garnish on top of the prepared mango milkshake; however, if you use cardamom powder, it should be incorporated with the mango pulp at the beginning to ensure that it blends effectively.
Canned Mango Pulp
If fresh mangoes are unavailable, the next best alternative is to use mango pulp from a can. I frequently store mango pulp for later use in numerous recipes, including this smoothie.
Thus, we can enjoy mango meals even when the fruit is out of season. In these mango smoothie recipes, you may use 1 to 1.25 cups of mango pulp for the chopped fresh mango.
